New Loans Service for Housing Organisation's Tenants
People For Places to provide its tenants with an alternative to doorstep lending
12th June 2006
One of the UK's biggest housing organisations is to offer its customers a new range of financial services aimed at both giving an alternative to expensive doorstep lending, and making it easier to get onto the housing ladder.
Places For People, who own and manage over 56,000 homes throughout the UK, will be able to offer their tenants unsecured loans of up to £3,000 through their newly established financial services division, and have also teamed up with the Co-op Bank to provide an exclusive range of mortgages.
Places For People's chief executive David Cowans said that the organisation could use its size and resources to help combat financial exclusion and help people stay out of debt, and also provide an easier first step onto the property ladder.
