With increased wealth for people in highly paid jobs in the country's cities, there has been an increase in the number of people buying second homes or holiday homes in rural areas.

This can cause problems for the locals of the area, both by reducing the amount of housing available and pushing up prices, making it difficult for first time buyers to afford to buy a home in their native area.

It's estimated that around a quarter of a million homes have now been bought up as second homes, and many rural communities are calling for action.

Possibilities being discussed include higher council tax prices for second homes, and a ban on 'outsiders' buying property in areas where the problem is particularly severe.
