New facts about the average UK homeowner released by Egg plc

New figures released by online bank Egg plc claim that the average UK homeowner 'settles down' into their long term family home at the age of 38, having already owned 3 properties before that.
Other findings of the research include:
- The average distance moved when buying a new home is 3 miles, with almost half of moves under 5 miles
- The average length of time in current home is 14 years
- 63% move house for 'aspirational' reasons rather than out of necessity
- 1 in 4 admit that TV property shows and a desire to 'keep up with the Joneses' influences their decision on moving
