Halifax Predicts 2% House Price Fall

UK's biggest mortgage lender, Halifax, predicts fall in average prices

3rd December 204

Halifax Bank has predicted that the average house price will fall by 2% over the next year, following the huge rises over the last decade or so.

The market has shown distinct signs of cooling over recent months, as interest rate rises have bitten, and the bank's research suggests that prices will decline until rates fall again, which it forecasts to happen in 12 months or so.

The predicted falls will not be evenly spread, with southern England being hit with falls of up to 5%, while Scotland and Northern Ireland could even see modest rises.
