British Pensioners Among the Poorest

Britains pension levels rank 26th out of 30 developed countries

A report by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) has placed Britain's state pensions 26th out of 30 developed countries.

Measured as a proportion of average income, Britain's pensioners can expect to receive around 48% when they retire, much less than the average figure of 69%.

The leading country was Luxembourg, which pays out 102% of average national earnings to its pensioners.
