Women Lag Men in Pension Planning
A report shows that women have less knowledge and interest in planning pensions
26th April 2005
Financial consulting and planning firm Watson Wyatt have released a survey that shows a gender gap in pension readiness.
In the survey of over 5,000 people, 58% of women said that they had little or no idea of their likely retirement income, compared to 44% of men.
Some 64% of men had reviewed their pension arrangements in the last 12 months, compared to just 50% of women.
The most common reason for women's apparent indifference to pensions is that they are too complicated (40%), while men gave lack of time as their most common reason (36%).
