Only 29% of Britons Own Shares

New share ownership survey from Alliance and Leicester

A new survey from Alliance and Leicester has revealed that only 29% of Britons are currently investing in shares. Of these, only 9% plan to extend their investment within the next 6 months, with 68% in it for the long haul with no plans to buy or sell in the near future.

This inactivity does not reflect apathy however, with 57% of share owners keeping tabs on their portfolio's performance within the last 6 months.
