Adequate Insurance Cover Urged

Insurance company urges holidaymakers to take out sufficient travel insurance

A report by insurer Legal and General shows that half of holidaymakers underestimated the value of their luggage and contents.

While a majority of those surveyed thought that their luggage was worth £500 or less, L&G said that the value can soon add up and the average family of four's luggage and contents was worth £2,500 - and in the case of skiers, that can rise to £2,500 per person.

Andy Sampson, Legal & General's Head of General Insurance Marketing said:

"It is clear that as holidaymakers we seriously undervalue the contents of our luggage... It's important that holidaymakers check the value of their luggage and contents to make sure they have sufficient cover in place before they travel"
