CAA Warns of Inadequate Consumer Protection
The Civil Aviation Authority concludes that consumers have inadequate protection against holiday firm collapses
7th July 2004
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has warned that holidaymakers face inadequate protection if their holiday firm or airline goes bust.
The Air Travel Trust, the fund that protects travel consumers against failed holiday firms, is £10m in deficit according to a newly published CAA report.
The report criticises the government for failing to take action to top the trust up, and warns that it may take a major company to go under before the government is forced to take action.
