One in 6 Adventure Activity Holidaymakers Uninsured
Insurance company warns of the dangers of traveling without insurance
25th July 2006
Insurance company AXA has warned adventure activity holidaymakers of the dangers of not taking out appropriate travel insurance, after a survey revealed that around one in 6 travelled without cover.
Nearly a fifth of people planning cycling holidays were not going to take out cover, while skiers were more cautious with only 5% taking the risk of not having insurance.
Other groups not planning on insuring themselves included sailors (12%), scuba divers (3%) and kayakers (10%).
The results came from a survey of just under 1000 people, and Pat Brady of AXA Insurance commented:
"Travel insurance is a necessity for anyone holidaying abroad, especially if you plan to take part in any adventure activities. If you are injured during these and need medical treatment, your bill could run into thousands of pounds."
