Cut in Standard Life Windfall Size?
Stock market conditions could affect the size of Standard Life windfalls
12th June 2006
Analysts are predicting that the size of flotation windfall bonuses for insurer Standard Life's members could be cut by as much as 10% from initial estimates.
Recent stock market figures have seen the value of the insurance sector as a whole fall by 12%, and this is expected to force the insurer to lower its flotation value from £5.5bn to £4.8bn, which in turn would reduce any windfall payments by the same proportion.
The average windfall payment would drop from £1,700 to £1,500 if, as expected, the insurer confirms the new valuation tomorrow.
