Warning over H&O Insure Ltd

The FSA warns of an unauthorised company selling invalid car insurance

12th August 2005

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has issued a warning to consumers over invalid car insurance policies believed to be sold by a company called H&O Insure Limited.

The company is thought to be operating in the Birmingham area, although it has not been authorised by the FSA to do so.

Furthermore, the company's claimed head office address of 4 Equity House, 42 Central Square, Wembley HA9 7AL is actually empty and awaiting demolition, and there is no trace of the company registered at Companies House.

The general insurance industry, including motor insurance, came under the regulation of the FSA in January this year, and any policies sold by unauthorised companies are invalid.

The FSA warns that anyone who's bought a policy from the rogue company may be committing a criminal offence by driving while uninsured.

The FSA has 'strongly advised' customers of H&O Insure Ltd to arrange cover through an authorised broker as soon as possible.
