Norwich Union tests a new way of paying for car insurance

Insurance company Norwich Union is to test a new way of paying for insurance, based on cost-per-mile.

Participants in the test will have a 'black box' fitted to their car which will record the number of miles driven and report back to Norwich Union, who will then issue a monthly bill to the policy holder.

If sucessful, the scheme may be extended to other Norwich Union customers, and is expected to be particularly popular with drivers with low annual mileages.
