Visa

Visa is one of the major credit card clearance systems. Although your card may be issued by your own bank or another company, most cards are affiliated with either Visa or Mastercard in order to provide widespread acceptability.

Visa started life as the BankAmericard in 1958, developed by Joseph Williams, and was the first multi-purpose credit card in the style of today's familiar cards.
