Tax Evasion

Tax Evasion is the name given to avoiding paying tax by illegal means such as lying about your income, not declaring assets, or through byzantine manipulation of accounts to hide money.

Punishment for the offence can be severe, often resulting in a prison sentence and restrictions on financial activity in the future.

It is different from Tax Avoidance, which is the completely legal method of minimising the amount of tax you pay.
