When you invest a sum of money in a savings account, ISA, the stockmarket etc, the amount of money that investment makes for you is known as the Return.

It is often expressed as a percentage figure, calculated as AER (Annual Earnings Rate).

Return is closely related to risk - the lower the risk of an investment, the lower the likely return.
