Interest Rates
In general terms, interest rates are a measure of the cost of a loan or credit (where it is usually expressed as an APR figure), or the earnings you'll get from savings (where it is expressed as an AER figure).
The term is often used in a more specific way to refer to the Base Rate set by the Bank of England, which ultimately controls the cost of all credit including mortgages.
