Insurance Premium Tax

Insurance Premium Tax is a form of tax levied on many insurance premiums you pay, such as home insurance, car insurance, and other general insurance products. (You could think of it as a version of VAT purely for insurance policies)

It was introduced in 1994, and currently stands at 5% for most policies, although certain kinds of insurance such as travel cover are charged at 17.5%.
