Inland Revenue
The Inland Revenue is the government body responsible for collecting most forms of tax in the UK, including income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax and stamp duty.
Value Added Tax or VAT is collected by Customs and Excise rather than the Inland Revenue, although these two bodies are to merge under a plan recently announced by the Chancellor.
