Endowment Shortfall
The term Endowment Shortfall is used to decribe the situation where money invested under an endowment mortgage policy fails to pay off your mortgage at the end of its term.
This is generally because the investment has not matched its predicted growth, whether through mismanagement or poor market performance.
It's estimated that up to 80% of endowment mortgages will have some level of shortfall.
