Dow Jones Industrial Average
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is one of the main USA share indices, made up of 30 blue chip companies traded on Wall Street in New York.
The companies in the index are chosen by Dow Jones & Co and the Wall Street Journal, and are intended to give a balanced reflection of American companies.
It has traditionally been dominated by industrial / manufacturing companies, but has gradually adapted to include more technology and service companies.
