CCJ

A CCJ is a county court judgment, which is a decision by a County Court that you have defaulted on debts for which you are liable. The CCJ is marked on your credit record, and is a serious barrier to obtaining credit.

If you then pay off the debt, this is also noted on your credit record, but it can take quite some time for the negative effects of the CCJ to disappear.
