Survey Shows Lack of Personal Finance Knowledge
A survey by Mintel shows that only 34% of adults think they have a sound understanding of personal finance

A survey by pollster company Mintel reveals the UK adults' knowledge of personal finance is less than stellar, with only 34% of respondents considering their financial understanding to be good.
A further 38% thought they had an average understanding, 27% thought their knowledge was inadequate, and nearly 5% admitting to no understanding whatsoever.
Other results of the survey include:
- 40% regret buying a financial product, with high pressure sales techniques or poor advice being blamed
- The young have the worst understanding of personal finance
- Men are more confident of their knowledge than women
