New Consumer Advice Guide From FSA
The Financial Services Authority updates the consumer section of its site
22nd August 2005
Finance industry watchdog FSA (Financial Services Authority) has published an updated guide for consumers looking for advice on mortgages, investments and insurance.
The guide, available on the FSA's web site or in booklet form, includes a 'protect yourself' section with tips on buying financial services, do's and don'ts, and general information.
Also included in the online version are comparison tables to help ion shopping around, and a firm-checker feature that lets users check if a company or advisor is authorised by the FSA.
An FSA spokesperson said that while many people say they wanted help and advice when choosing financial services, many turn to friends and family rather than professional advisers, and that the publication of the guide would help make consumers more confident in their dealings with the financial services industry.
