Water Prices up 12%
Water price rises will cost households an average of £29
1st April 2005
Household water prices rise today by an average of 12%, or £29.
The risees have been approved by the regulator Ofwat, which accepts that the rises are necessary to safeguard services by improving the UK's water infrastructure.
Water consumer group WaterVoice noted that the change would hit those on low incomes hardest, and urged customers to contact their water company if they were worried about the rise, as measures such as installing a water meter or arranging flexible payment plans can all help soften the blow.
