Water Bills to Rise Sharply?
Water companies call for yearly rises

The water industry has proposed prices rises of £14 per year for an average customer, every year from 2005 to 2010.
The water companies say that this is needed to fund a £22bn plan to improve the infrastructure, and to meet government targets on water quality.
Customer groups are predictably against such a move, and Ofwat (the water industry regulator) will come to a decision on allowable price rises in August, with a compromise likely.
