Scottish and Southern Energy Price Hikes
6 million energy customers face huge rises

Scottish and Southern Energy, the company that owns Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro Electric and Swalec has announced huge price rises for its 6 million customers.
The hikes, which will come into effect in July, will see gas prices rise by an average 9.1%, while average electricity prices will rise by 6.7%. The current underlying RPI inflation rate is 2.1%.
In common with other energy companies who've put up prices, Scottish and Southern blamed increasing wholesale energy prices.
