350,000 Leave British Gas in 2006

Another 350,000 customers leave British Gas since the start of 2006

22nd May 2006

The drain of customers from British Gas shows no sign of letting up, with new figures showing a further 350,000 have switched away from the energy company since the start of 2006.

Although most energy companies have hiked their prices in recent months in response to soaring wholesale energy costs, British Gas has attracted much of the bad publicity by raising it's tariffs by 22% while reporting 11% higher profits.

The company has said that despite their price hikes, they are likely to show a loss for their residential business in 2006 unless wholesale prices fall.
