Woman Receives Multi-million Pound Electricity Bill
A midlands woman was surprised to receive an electricity bill for over £202 million
20th January 2006
Even against a background of rocketing energy prices, a woman from Nottingham was more than a little surprised to be sent an electricity bill for more than £202m.
With admirable understatement, Lisa Crossley said "It does seem a little unusual. It's only a two-bedroomed terrace house".
The bill arrived after Ms Crossley told electricity supplier Powergen that she was concerned that her bills were on the low side, and that she may be being undercharged after problems with her meter.
Powergen acknowledged that the bill was incorrect and produced by a 'small error' on their part which has now been rectified.
