£715 Spent on Toys Each Year

Research shows high levels of spending on toys

Reasearch by Egg, the online bank, has shown that the average child has £715 a year spent on toys by its parents.

By the age of 16, a child's toy box may be worth up to £11,000, according to the survey of 1000 parents. Collectively, £8bn a year is spent.

The survey shows that 17% of parents resent having their arms twisted into buying film and TV merchandise, despite its popularity with children, because of the short term nature of such toy fashions.
