Staff Ignorant of Store Card Costs

A report shows that retail staff pushing store cards are ignorant of the costs involved

A report by consumer watchdog Which? says that retail staff pushing store cards onto customers do not have an understanding of the issues involved.

While most staff could give the benefits of owning a card such as discounts and loyalty programs, and often gave this information unprompted, few or none could answer questions about charges for late payments, or gave misleading information about interest charges.

The Competition Commission have been paying close attention to the store card industry lately, and the report has been passed to them to help in their investigations.
