Competition Commission 'Concerns' Over Store Cards

Competition Commission says the store cards market may be 'detrimental' to customers

The Competition Commission has said that the early signs in its investigation of the store cards market are not encouraging, and that competition in the market may not be functioning correctly.

The commission stresses that this is only early 'emerging thinking' and that initial findings will not be published until April.

Potential concerns the commission found include insufficient pressure on interest rates and other charges, and a lack of choice in the insurance services bundled with the cards.
