EU plans a Europe-wide phone number for reporting lost cards
There could soon be a single telephone number to call to report any lost credit card throughout Europe

The European Commission has announced plans for a single, Europe-wide telephone number for reporting lost credit cards, as part of a review of electronic payment systems.
Currently, travellers have to phone their own bank in their own country wherever they are, which can lead to delays in reporting loss and a higher chance of card fraud.
Under the new plans, a single number will be used by all European cardholders wherever they are in the union.
