Half of Britons Have Never Visited Bank Manager

Research from Lloyds TSB suggests 55% of Britons have never had a meeting with their bank

23rd August 2005

Research results released by Lloyds TSB estimate that over half - 55% - of UK banking customers have never had a face to face meeting with their bank manager.

The most common reason, given by 82% of those, was that it would be a waste of time. 10% said that they didn't expect to get any useful advice, while 6% admitted avoiding their banks because of guilty feelings over handling their finances badly.

Four per cent were afraid of getting a telling off, while 3% admitted to feeling terrified at the prospect of a visit. 19% said they'd rather be doing the ironing, and a full 12% would prefer a trip to the dentist.

However, 52% of people who have seen their bank manager said it was a positive and helpful experience, and a Lloyds spokesperson said that a financial 'check up' every 2 or 3 years could be beneficial and save you money.
