Post Office to Replace Pay ATMs

Decision comes after recent criticism

14th July 2005

The Post Office is understood to be withdrawing fee-charging cash machines from its premises, following recent criticsim in a report to the Treasury select committee.

It was reported that the charges cost Post Office customers around £10m a year.

Money Guardian reports that talks between the Post Office and the Bank of Ireland are at an advanced stage, with the likely result that the bank will install free machines at up to 1000 Post Office locations, and that all charge ATMs should be replaced by the end of the year.
