Halifax Card Switch Stops Online Shopping for Thousands

Halifax Cardcash account holders moved to Visa Electron, which is rarely accepted online

Holders of Halifax Cardcash bank accounts will soon be unable to shop online at major sites, following the decision to switch their debit cards from Solo to Visa Electron.

Visa Electron is not widely accepted at major ecommerce sites, even though around 10 million people worldwide hold a card.

So far, only a small number of Cardcash customers have had their cards replaced, but all customers will receive their Electron card by the end of the year according to Halifax.
