Egg's French Retreat Moves Forward
The closure of online bank Egg's French operation moved forward today with announcement of a deal with Banque Accord
1st October 2004
Egg, the online bank, is in discussions with french company Banque Accord over the disposal of its french unsecured lending business which includes 66,000 credit card customers.
The french side of Egg's business has long been slated for closure, as it has always been a loss making operation, overshadowing the good performance of the UK division.
The proposed deal with Banque Accord would lead to the redeployment of around 100 employees and ensure continuity of service to most of Egg's french customers.
