Childrens Savings
Savings accounts for children are a valuable way of encouraging the idea of financial responsibility and planning from an early age.
They also often pay better rates than normal savings accounts, and are of course tax free.
Many kinds of accounts are available, with easy access accounts good for short term savings such as building up a holiday spending money fund or cash for christmas presents, while at the other end of the scale a fixed rate bond may be more appropriate for longer term savings to help cover further education or driving lessons.
Also available are child trust funds which are opened with governemnt issued vouchers, topped up with deposits by parents or grandparents, and mature at the age of 18.
