17th May 2005
Belfast is to see the introduction of two cash machines for the blind, under a trial by Northern Bank.
The ATMs, which feature an automated voice to guide people with sight problems, will be tested for 6 months before the bank decides whether or not to introduce them more widely.
The technology used in the cash machines was developed by a Canadian company, Phoenix Interactive, and Northern Bank is among the first to introduce the feature to Europe.
