HSBC Business Banking Charges 'Quadruple'

Cost of business banking to quadruple for thousands

Up to 350,000 small businesses could face a quadrupling of their bank charges, according to a BBC report.

HSBC has announced price hikes for using branches to deposit cash or cheques, applying to businesses that have a turnover of less than £500,000 a year.

HSBC points out that it has lowered costs for electronic banking, but the Federation of Small Business estimates that one in three small businesses rely on branch-based banking.
