Bank of Scotland Complaint Rejected

Bank of Scotland complains over a Royal Bank of Scotland advert

19th May 2005

The Advertising Standards Authority has rejected a complaint by the Bank of Scotland (Bos) over a Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) advert which it claimed was misleading.

In the advert, RBS said that it was the best for business customers, while BoS claimed the results of a poll of businesses with a turnover of £25m or more preferred its services.

However, the advertising authority said that surveys of a wider range of businesses, as carried out by RBS, showed that RBS customers were on average more satisfied with their bank than BoS ones.
