Record Profits for Nationwide

Nationwide Building Society announces record 6-monthly profits

19th November 2004

The Nationwide Building Society has announced record 6 month profits of £244.9m, up 30% on the figure for the same period last year.

As a mutual society, there are no shareholders to pay dividends to, so profits are either reinvested in the business or paid to customers in the form of lower charges or higher earnings.

Nationwide says this has benefited its customers to the tune of over £300m over the last six months.
