Barclays Bank cuts a quarter of its personnel jobs

Banking group Barclays has announced it is to cut a quarter of its personnel staff, involving the loss of 225 jobs.

Most of the jobs to be lost will be at the human resources head office in London, as the company restructures its operation to move staff closer to the personnel they support.

Barclay's said that it would redeploy staff where possible, but would offer a redundancy package of 3 months salary where there was no alternative.

The group employs a total of 78,400 people worldwide.
