Cashpoint Glitch Hits Barclays Customers

Thousands of Barclays customers were left without cash on Easter Sunday

29th March 2005

A computer glitch left thousands of Barclays customers unable to access their accounts on Easter Sunday. The computer problem locked people out of their accounts, meaning they couldn't withdraw money from cashpoints, or use internet or telephone banking.

Contrary to initial reports, Barclays deny that the problem was related to the clocks going forward for British Summertime.

The company says that there was no security risk involved, and has apologised for the inconvenience caused to its customers.
