1,000 More Job Losses at Abbey
Total number of job losses since takeover now 4,000

A further 1,000 employees of Abbey face redundancy, following the planned loss of 3,000 jobs announced last year.
The workers affected will mainly be backroom staff, whose functions have been duplicated since the takeover by Spanish group Banco Santander.
Abbey currently employs around 25,000 in the UK.
