31% Rise in Personal Insolvency
Personal insolvencies on the rise according to government figures

Statistics from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) show a huge hike in personal insolvencies, with a 31% rise over the last 12 months.
Overall, there were 11,967 individual insolvencies in England and Wales in the 3rd quarter of 2004, with this being made up of 9,156 bankruptcies and 2,811 Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs).
